Let's talk about the time that Chris may have downloaded a virus when he was trying to get the new Radiohead album.

Firstly, it made a new user account on his computer.

Secondly, he's locked out of his original account. Now, this could be because it changed the password OR because he never logs out of it so he doesn't have a reason to remember it. Either way, he can't get in.

I decided to go the Kevin Rose way of cracking the password. I booted up Ubuntu & got the SAM & system file from the windows\system32\config directory.

After some remembering how to mount an iPod in an older version of ubuntu.

I take the files to my laptop where the SAM file is now being cracked with @stake LC4. It says 4 hours left. Fun.

But there's also the issue that computer has now. You can go into the new "admin" account, which isn't an admin account at all. But after you sit there for a while the mouse cursor starts moving by itself which is an odd thing to see. I've never seen a virus do this before. It's like it's being controlled through VNC. Which is odd because there is a VNC server running on the computer & now I can't close it. Lame. Oh well. It's running the Trend Micro House Call virus scan right now. Hopefully it finds something & it won't need formatting. That would suck ballllllllsssss.

I'm gonna go kill 4 hours.

Frakkin hell, Hofmann. I watched the BSG miniseries last night & today I've cleared off the second disc. But Chris & Bethany are on disc four, I believe, so now I'm behind & don't want to know what happens in the future episodes. I guess I'll just take disc three and watch it on my computer while they're watching four.

I hate you for this.

Sooo, there's the new iPod touch...

...with wifi.

Which is really the only reason I wanted the iPhone to begin with as I have a phone already.

DOES WANT!

It's really annoying when I'm trying to do stuff with my router on my laptop. When I enter 192.168.0.1 to login, my router disconnects my laptop from the network. It's pretty annoying.

So I have this old frankenstein computer that I built for Star before moving in with her. It has a whopping 320 megs of ram and an 80 gig hard drive.

Sadly, that's larger than this laptops hard drive.

A 600 mhz processor and it's running XP. Right now, I got bored and decided to install a World of Warcraft server on it. It's running pretty well so far. Of course, I've only had myself connect to it and it doesn't seem to want to die too much. It also has a VNC server so I don't have to get up to do anything to it.

Omg! The MC Pee Pants episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force is on right now.

So, my question, good people of LJ, what should I do with this computer that's not very good/fast?

So after having Vista for about two weeks I decided that I hated it. As far as Microsoft operating systems go, XP is my favorite. As far as operating systems in general, Ubuntu ftw.

So, I'm back to XP with an Ubuntu server in the other room. I haven't really decided what I'm going to do with the server yet. I had a 400 gig hard drive that I accidentally broke. I threw that in the box last night to see if it worked. No go.

Anyone know how to fix a broken HD?

Oops on LJ's part...

Thanks http://www.warriorsforinnocence.org/ for sucking ass. I get what you're trying to do, and it's good. But you're using a 12 gauge shotgun as a flyswatter. There are better ways to go about trying to keep internet predators at bay. Look at Chris Hansen.

Let's try not to fuck it up, Livejournal. If they really wanted to go after a major networking site, they'd go after myspace. Or maybe they can't because it's coded so poorly and they get a "Sorry! A technical error has occurred. This will be forwarded to MySpace's technical team." one too many times.

PS I'm so freaking sick of threads online when a comment is available someone says "FIRST!"

Get over yourself. No one care's if you're first or last.

Also, I'm sick.

Update on the trackpad. I installed generic synaptics drivers for Vista and while it still has a random bout of craziness, it's not nearly as bad now...

So I uninstalled the Synaptics touchpad drivers for Vista just cause it was hell. The cursor is still a little crazy, but it's like it's taking prozac or something to calm itself down.

The best way to describe it is it's like when you're dreaming and you're running away from something and it just seems like it's the hardest thing in the world to do. When you're trying to move the mouse you keep moving your finger over the touchpad and the cursor goes nowhere like it's paralyzed.

Ugh.

Vista has made my trackpad go freaking insane. It randomly moves/clicks/drags while I'm trying to make it do other stuff.

I need to find a fix for this before I throw my laptop out the window.

So Nelnet called me and offered me a job starting April ninth. Good stuff, too. I needed a place to work where I was making pretty decent cash.

Speaking of cash, I was not aware that Johnny Cash did the voice of the coyote in that Simpsons episode where Homer ate all those peppers from Guatemala. Thank you, wiki.

Also, I hate java on linux. It only angers me.

Edit: It's super nice outside right now.
